The UK Government Will Implement Identity Verification from November 2025

According to the provisions of the UK’s Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023, voluntary identity verification services will be available for company-related personnel from 8 April 2025. Starting from 18 November of the same year, all company directors and persons with significant control will be required to complete identity verification.

In the future, identity verification will become a necessary requirement for holding relevant positions. After completing identity verification, Companies House will issue an exclusive personal identification code, which serves as the unique identifier within the company registration system. This code will be used for the submission of company documents and declarations to ensure the accuracy of information and the authenticity of identity, and it will serve as an important basis for ongoing company compliance.

The core purpose of UK company identity verification is to enhance corporate information transparency, strengthen the prevention of economic crime, improve market credibility, and support overall economic growth. Companies that fail to complete identity verification as required may face financial penalties and could even have their normal operations affected.
